Chengdu City Day Tour Du Fu Thatched Cottage · Luhu Lake · New Century Global Centre · SKP
One city, three faces — a thousand years of poetry, hidden nature, and contemporary Chengdu life. All in one day.

[Introduction] Chengdu is a city that refuses to be defined by a single story. In the morning, you stand inside the bamboo cottage where China's greatest poet wrote his most beloved verses over 1,200 years ago. In the afternoon, you take a boat across a lake hidden inside one of Asia's largest cities — a place most tourists never find. In the evening, you walk into a building so large it has its own indoor beach, then stroll to one of China's most striking luxury destinations before the night ends. One private guide. One small group. No rushing. This is Chengdu at its own pace.

[Itinerary]
Morning · Meet at Du Fu Thatched Cottage Metro Station Your guide meets you at 09:00 at Exit A of Caotang North Road Station, Metro Line 4. A short walk brings you to the entrance of Du Fu Thatched Cottage — and the day begins.
Wander through shaded bamboo groves and classical garden courtyards as your guide brings Du Fu's story to life in plain English. This is the place where China's most celebrated poet spent four of the most peaceful years of his life, writing over 240 poems while the world outside was at war. After the cottage, follow the path along Huanhua Stream — willows trailing in the water, egrets overhead, locals doing exactly what Chengdu people have always done here: nothing in particular, and perfectly content about it. No time pressure. Walk at your own pace.

Midday · Lunch at a Local Sichuan Restaurant When you're ready, your guide leads you to a neighborhood Sichuan restaurant near the cottage — the kind with no English menu and a queue of locals out the door every day. Your guide orders the house specials: Fuqi Feipian, braised pork knuckle, Bobo Chicken. Cold tea, unhurried conversation, no agenda. Spice level adjusted to your preference — completely mild available on request.
Afternoon · Luhu Lake · Luke Island After lunch, a taxi ride of approximately one hour brings you to one of Chengdu's best-kept secrets. Most visitors to Chengdu never find Luhu Lake — and that is exactly the point. Take a short boat ride across to Luke Island: reed beds, lakeside walking paths, contemporary art installations, a coffee spot with water views. The afternoon light on the lake is the kind of thing you don't plan for and don't forget. Walk wherever you want. Your guide is with you, or not — your call.

Early Evening · Dinner at New Century Global Centre A taxi from Luhu brings you to the New Century Global Centre — one of the largest single buildings on earth. First-time visitors almost always stop and stare before they even walk in. Your guide takes you inside and recommends a restaurant based on your mood: Sichuan classics, hot pot, or something lighter. Dinner is included. Take your time.
Evening · SKP Chengdu After dinner, a 15-minute walk brings you to SKP Chengdu — one of the most architecturally striking buildings in the city and a destination in its own right. Browse, photograph, or simply walk through and absorb what contemporary Chengdu looks and feels like in 2025. There is no agenda here. Stay as long as you like.

End of Tour · Metro Drop-Off When you're ready to head back, your guide walks you to the nearest metro station and hands you a personal list of recommendations for the rest of your time in Chengdu.
